Dear Friends of the Foundation:

Because of your thoughtfulness and generosity, it was my distinct pleasure to award 8 outstanding graduating seniors from Roma High School, the 2015 Diana Vela-McMillion Scholarship Foundation Award at their Awards Ceremony on May 13, 2015.  The winning students were:

 2015 Diana Vela-McMillion Scholarship Foundation: $1,000.00 Winners

  1. Emmanuel Pena
  2. Czsar Perez
  3. Michelle Mascorro
  4. Ashley V. Saenz
  5. Dianey mendoza
  6. Clyde Michael Guerra
  7. Daniel Ortiz
  8. Mario Gutierrez

In addition to the scholarship presentation, I hosted an awards reception at our home in Roma, Texas on June 27, 2014.  All the awardees and their parents had a chance to meet the Vela-McMillion family and get to know a little about the person whom the Scholarship is named (Dee).

In addition, I created the Diana Vela-McMillion Network (DVM Network) wherein all donors and friends of the Foundation will be listed by Name, City, Occupation (email or phone number) as advisors for the awardees as they make their way through college life.  Advisors’ responsibilities will be to provide moral support and guidance and other pertinent information that will help each awardee in his/her professional development and growth.  With your vast array of professions and combined years of experience, your guidance will prove invaluable to the overall growth and development of each awardee.  Your insight will provide them with the edge they need to compete in a global society.

Your support to the Foundation and to the memory of my beautiful wife, Diana Vela-McMillion has been a blessing to me, the Vela family and the 8 awardees.  As we enter into the fourth anniversary of her death, I want to thank you for your friendship and unwavering support.

             Sincerely,

Michael R. McMillion
